Mojo

Mojo – from the African Kikongo word Mooyo meaning spiritual spark, force, or soul.



A Pagan spirituality roams loose in these pages. It's a notoriously complicated and even personal force, this mojo. In fact it seems to me as I search Keith Carter's photographs and let them move in on my spirit, that the meaning of this strange word, so playful and mysterious on the tongue, must gather gradually out of the images themselves.
