This book brings together seventy-eight photographs chosen by Carter to represent the range and development of his work through the late 1990's.  Many of the images in this book have never been published before, while others come from Carter's previous books. Drawing inspiration from popular culture, religion, folklore, stories, and Carter's own East Texas roots, the photographs testify to the ragged beauty and deep, abiding grace woven into our daily lives.
